Launceston Detectorists raise funds for MS Society

The Launceston Detectorists have recently raised money for the MS Society, with chairman Keith Sampson handing over a cheque for £235 to the local MS support branch, Plymouth and Tamar Valley MS Support Group.

Keith Sampson from Launceston Detectorists presents the cheque to Hilary Straw and Helen Cherry from Plymouth and Tamar Valley MS Society.

The local group of detectorists held an open evening and raised the funds through their raffle and prize draw. The charity was chosen as one of the group’s landowner partners, Andy, was recently diagnosed with MS.

Keith Sampson, chairman, said: “I would like to mention the support from our sponsors: Philip Warren and Son, butchers; Dee Burgers at Firebrand, Pennygillam; and History Finders Ltd in Totnes, Devon, whose contributions and support helped us achieve the donation total, and Andy for allowing our many detecting sessions on his fields.”

Plymouth and Tamar Valley MS Support Group are based in Plymouth, and hold regular meetings for the benefit of people living with MS in and around the Tamar Valley area.

Launceston Detectorists welcomes new members and new permissions. For more information, email keithsampson@myself.com or dave.buxton@gmail.com
