As you make your way out of town and into the picturesque countryside, you’ll find yourself at the grounds of Launceston Cricket Club.
Based at Stourscombe and set across a stunning landscape overlooking Dartmoor, Launceston Cricket Club is led by longtime players Pete West and Kev Worth, who are keen to welcome new young cricket players to the scene. They’re also encouraging people from the community to make the most of the club’s fantastic facilities.
The club used to be based at Polson until 2004 when they made the move to the grounds at Stourscombe where, with the help of various grants, they were able to fund improvements to the space and create a welcoming clubhouse, complete with kitchen, bar, disabled toilets, defibrillator and even a pool table! The club would love to see more youngsters join the junior and softball teams, and Pete promises a great day out for all - from the players, to the parents and supporters.
Showing Launceston Life around the clubhouse, chairman Pete West said: “As the evenings pull out, it’s an amazing place to be with those views across Dartmoor. We want everyone to come up here and make the most of the fantastic facilities, and of course our well-stocked bar is the most important part of the day after the game.”
With the season starting in the second week of April, the club encourages the community to head over to the grounds and enjoy some great cricket and a fantastic social atmosphere.
